Bender's account was featured in They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers, a book by IFSB associate Gray Barker, who also mentioned it frequently in his magazine, The Saucerian. They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers. The men in black (MIB) entered UFO lore in 1956 in a book entitled They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers. He was author of They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers and The Silver Bridge. West Virginia UFO researcher Gary Barker's book They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers (which was published by University Books in 1956) introduced the notion of the Men in Black to UFO folklore. And, at the absolute top of my list – in joint first-place - were Gray Barker's 1956 title They Knew Too Much about Flying Saucers and a small, overwhelmingly bizarre book titled Flying Saucers and the Three Men. The Mothman Prophecies was not the first book to inflate the Mothman legend, however. (For those who may be interested in this aspect, there is a book by Gray Barker, called:”They knew too much about Flying Saucers”). Gray Barker, editor of The Saucerian Bulletin, loved a good mystery. Another player, Gray Barker, in his 1956 book "They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers" indicated that Bender's visitations were actually from FBI agents.
